755 Bison Calves, Yellowstone, WY 756 Grizzly!, Yellowstone, WY -- I came across this momma grizzly and her cub just as I was leaving the park. I got to within about 100 feet of her but kept the car between us. Another guy there was half that distance and hunkered down -- which is perfectly fine photo-wise, but a really dumb move bear-wise (tiny target means easier prey)! I mention to the guy he may want to back off some, noting that momma already had her hackles raised. I also point out that if she decides to charge him, he will want to say 757 Grizzly II!, Yellowstone, WY -- It's unnerving when you catch a bear's attention like this. Especially as you are noticing her nose looks amazingly like a black skull! 758 Baby Griz, Yellowstone, WY -- aww cute, and just as mean. 759 Momma and cub, Yellowstone, WY 760 Baby Relaxes, Yellowstone, WY 761 Baby Sees Me, Yellowstone, WY -- I can imagine the thought process going on in its noggin ... 762 Grizzly and Cub, Yellowstone, WY -- Okay, momma past the rocks so I pack up and go! I spend the night in the car about 30 miles from here, but still thick in Grizzly country. One of the brochures I am given by the campground guard notes to be sure to have your Grizzly Pepper Spray handy -- oh crap! At about 3 am. I wake up freezing and having to pee to beat the band. Wait, Grizzly Country ... hmm ... maybe if I roll down the window and ... no, that's not going to work. I'll just quietly sneak out, do my business and get back inside. Only I forget the keys are in the ignition so as soon as I crack open the door ... dome light comes on to a choir of dings! You've never seen anyone get their business done faster than I did just then! The kicker to the story? The next morning I turn on the radio and heard this news item ... Man mauled by Grizzly Bear protecting her cub!!! I swear to God! No idea if it was that same guy but way creepy moment there! 763 Dead Tree, west of Cody, WY
