Grizzly!, Yellowstone, WY -- I came across this momma grizzly and her cub just as I was leaving the park. I got to within about 100 feet of her but kept the car between us. Another guy there was half that distance and hunkered down -- which is perfectly fine photo-wise, but a really dumb move bear-wise (tiny target means easier prey)! I mention to the guy he may want to back off some, noting that momma already had her hackles raised. I also point out that if she decides to charge him, he will want to say "Oh shit," but will probably get out about an "o" before she's upon him! I get the wave off though, but at least I know I tried to help. I give myself a mental post-in ... she gets past those rocks and it's in the car and gone!
